A group of ten sentenced of digital abuse directed at Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has ruled against ten people for perpetrating the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the wife of France's leader, Emmanuel Macron.
The accused individuals faced charges of circulating fabrications regarding her gender and sexuality, in addition to making defamatory statements about the husband and wife's 24-year age gap.
The court delivered suspended jail terms of as much as eight months to the perpetrators. The full ruling has still to be made public.
A circulating false narrative suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has existed since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.
This Monday's court decision in France is concurrent with the Macrons engaging in a legal action for defamation in the US against right-wing influencer Candace Owens, who has likewise promoted analogous false narratives about the Brigitte Macron's identity.
Their complaint contends that Owens disregarded substantial counter-evidence that refuted her assertions opting to platforming known conspiracy theorists.
Owens has frequently reiterated these assertions on her show and social media channels, and in March 2024 stated that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her belief that Mrs. Macron is in fact a man.
Brigitte Macron initially encountered her now-husband when she taught at his lycée.
The pair tied the knot in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
